Kingsmen win 2023 State Championship !!!!!!
The Penn High School Baseball program has carved out one of Indiana’s top legacies. The Kingsmen have won six state championships, including back-to-back State Championships in 2022 and 2023.
The Penn High School Boys Basketball team competes at the highest levels in Indiana. The Kingsmen have a proud history in the IHSAA state tournament, and annually compete against one of the state’s most challenging schedules. Penn's Markus Burton was named Mr. Basketball in 2023.
Penn High School’s Boys Cross Country Team has been a competitive force on the state level. The Kingsmen traditionally run in some of the most prestigious events in Indiana.
Penn High School’s Football program has a golden reputation in Indiana. The Kingsmen boast five state championships. Numerous student-athletes from the Penn Football program have gone on to compete collegiately, including in the Big Ten Conference, the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the Ivy League.
Penn’s Boys Golf program has a strong tradition of contending for IHSAA state tournament and Northern Indiana Conference championships. 
The Penn High School Boys Soccer is a force on the IHSAA landscape. The Kingsmen have one state championship and consistently embark on long runs in the state tournament.
The Penn Boys Tennis Team has established a championship legacy and traditionally enjoys success in the IHSAA state tournament. Derek Myers won an individual state championship in singles. Thomas Snelson and Gautham Vaidyanathan won a state championship in doubles in 2006.
The Penn High School Boys Track and Field Program enjoys a proud history. Kingsmen student-athletes have traditionally been a strong presence at the IHSAA State Championships.
Penn’s Wrestling team is a dominant force in IHSAA competition. The Kingsmen won the state championship in 2015 and are traditionally well represented in the individual state finals.
Penn High School boasts one of the elite Girls Basketball programs in the State of Indiana. The Penn High School Girls Basketball team reached the pinnacle of the IHSAA state tournament by winning the state championship in 2016. The Kingsmen have a strong state tournament tradition, and play one of Indiana’s most competitive schedules. Head Coach Kristi Ulrich has guided the Kingsmen to a 312-50 record in the past 14 seasons. This marks her as the current winningest coach in Indiana Girls Basketball with an 86 percent winning percentage. She has coached 29 Collegiate Basketball Players and five Indiana All-Stars. The program focuses on family, selflessness, accountability, and competing with passion. These values are all centered around a positive culture to help grow and develop dedicated student-athletes.

The Penn Girls Cross Country Team perennially challenges for honors at the IHSAA State Championships. The Kingsmen compete in some of the top Cross Country events in the Midwest in the regular season.
Penn High School’s Girls Golf team has established itself as one of the elite programs in Indiana. The Kingsmen have won four state championships, and traditionally qualify for the state finals.
Penn Girls Soccer is one of the elite programs in the nation. The Kingsmen earned state championships in 2016 and 2017, and finished ranked No. 1 in the nation in 2017.
Penn High School’s softball program is a perennial Top 10 team in Indiana. The program, which won the state championship in 1999 and 2023, has developed numerous NCAA Div. I student-athletes.
The Penn Girls Swimming Team consistently place swimmers in the IHSAA State Finals and has numerous state champions. Penn has a proud history of developing student-athletes to compete for NCAA Div. I swimming programs.
The Penn High School Girls Tennis program traditionally qualifies for the IHSAA State Championships. The program has also developed numerous players to complete at the NCAA Div. I level.
The Penn High School Girls Track program boasted five individuals who earned state championship blue ribbons in the 2016 IHSAA Track and Field State Championships. The Kingsmen are consistently one of the top teams in the state in terms of qualifying student-athletes for the State Championships.

Penn High School added Unified Track to its illustrious Athletic line-up in 2019. Unified Track pairs students with and without disabilities in a partner format. In addition to representing Penn High School in competitive athletic events, student-athletes build relationships and learn the life-long lessons that sports teaches.
Head Coach Greg Dikos
Coach Dikos has coached Penn to six state championships – 1994, 1998, 2001, 2015, 2022, 2023. A graduate of Swartz Creek High School (Mich.) and Ball State University, Coach Dikos was selected by the Atlanta Braves as a third baseman in the 1979 Major League Baseball Draft in the 31st round. Pete Riordan was named the Head Coach of the Penn High School Football Program on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. Riordan has been an assistant coach on the Kingsmen Football staff for 20 years (most recently serving as Defensive Coordinator). Riordan will be the seventh head coach of the Kingsmen Football Team.
Taking over one of Indiana’s elite Football programs, Riordan replaces Cory Yeoman. Penn finished the 2023 season with a 10-2 record, winning Sectional and Northern Indiana Conference Championships. Riordan has coached in four State Championship Football games as an assistant with the Kingsmen (2003, 2011, 2015 and 2017), with Penn earning a State Runner-up finish in those seasons.
Riordan started his teaching career at Penn High School in 2000. He relocated to Indianapolis from 2007-2009 while his wife was in residency as a physician. During this time, Coach Riordan served as assistant coach at Ben Davis for three seasons (2007-2009), the last two seasons as the Giants’ defensive coordinator.
Riordan owns a state championship legacy. He played on the 1995 South Bend St. Joseph State Championship Football Team and was a three-year starter. Riordan also played one year of Football at Wabash College. He earned a B.A. from Wabash and earned an MBA in Finance from Indiana University South Bend.

Head Coach Kyle Zaber
After an all-state high school career in the St. Louis-area and a successful college playing career at Dominican University, Coach Zaber has built an extensive coaching career. Zaber began his coaching career at Lafayette High School in Lexington, Ky. He has had numerous club coaching duties, as well as a six-year stint as an assistant at Holy Cross College. Zaber has also served as a longtime member of Coerver Indiana’s coaching staff. Coach Zaber holds a Masters of Art degree in Sports and Performance Psychology and is currently working toward his Doctorate of Education. He and his wife Karlie, a Penn graduate, have four sons – Keagan, Finlay, Declan and Rory. He is employed as an account executive at Press Ganey Associates in South Bend.

John VanDriessche, the Indiana High School Swimming Coaches Association 2024 State Coach of the Year, is the head coach of Penn High School’s Boys and Girls Swim/Dive Teams.

Penn coach Brad Harper led the Kingsmen to the school’s first wrestling team state championship in 2015.
A four-time state qualifier in wrestling for Mishawaka High School, Harper won a state championship, and was also a state runner-up for the Cavemen.
Harper was also a two-time NCAA qualifier for the Purdue Boilermakers.
Coach Harper is in his 16th season at Penn.

Girls Cross Country Head Coach Michael Clements Michael Clements has been involved in the Girls Cross Country and Girls Track programs at Penn since 2006. He was named the head coach in 2015. Clements is a graduate of Marian High School and the University of Notre Dame. He was a standout runner at Marian, and was a walk-on Cross Country runner at Notre Dame.

Girls Soccer Head Coach Jeff Hart
Jeff Hart is a graduate of The Ohio State University. He became the head coach of the Kingsmen in 2012. Penn won State Championships in 2016 and 2017 under Hart’s guidance. Penn was named the No. 1 Girls Soccer Team in the Nation in 2017. Hart also serves as Penn’s Athletic Director. Coach Zachary played for Castle High School in southern Indiana and pitched the Knights to a State Championship in 2001. She went on to play Division I collegiate softball at IPFW. Her husband, Dave, also pitched the Penn Baseball team to a State Championship in 2001. They have three children: Aubrey, Ava and Addyson. Coach Zachary guided Penn to the 2023 State Championship, with her husband, Dave, as an assistant coach, and daughters Aubrey and Ava as players on the team. Penn Unified Track head coach Bennett Blazo is a Pickerington, Ohio, native. He is a graduate of Indiana-South Bend. Jordan Automotive Group Baseball Field
The Jordan Automotive Group Baseball Field, located just north of the main Penn High School building off of Bittersweet Rd., has a seating capacity of more than 1,200. Bleachers are constructed behind both the home-team dugout and the visiting-team dugout. There is also lawn seating inside the complex. Additional seating can be brought in for special tournament events. The field has an artificial turf surface that was installed in 2019. The dimensions of the field are: 315 feet to the left-field foul pole. 380 feet to the center-field fence, and 315 feet to the right-field foul pole. The backstop area is 40 feet. There are enclosed concrete dugouts on the first-base and third-base sides, as well as batting cages. Jordan Automotive Group Field has lighting for night games, and has hosted IHSAA sectional and regional events. The permanent press-box structure also houses a concession stand and restroom facilities. There is also a baseball junior varsity/freshmen baseball field located east of the softball complex off of U.S. 20.

The Penn High School Arena is home to Boys and Girls Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, Poms and Wellness class events.
Capacity seating for the Arena is 4,000, with 1,268 seats in the lower Arena. The Arena features a two-tone wood playing surface that was resurfaced in 2010, and has three LED scoreboards and efficient instant indoor illumination (80-plus lumens). There are adjacent male and female locker rooms in the Arena, and an additional six male and female locker rooms nearby. The Arena features the Tradewinds Restaurant Concession Stand in the northeast corner of the upper Arena. There is also a concession stand in the northwest corner of the upper Arena. The Arena complex also has four public restrooms.
Penn’s Arena has hosted numerous IHSAA sectional and regional events.
The Arena is located on the north side of Penn High School, and can be accessed by Door D from the front of the high school off of Bittersweet Rd.

Cross Country Course
Located at 59400 Elm Rd., Mishawaka, Indiana, the Elm Road Elementary School grounds are home to the Penn Boys and Girls Cross Country teams.
Penn’s home course is considered one of the more challenging courses in the Northern Indiana Conference.
The course features small, steep hills with one very large hill. It is an all-grass surface.
Runners must complete two laps to run the full 5K IHSAA distance for competitive cross country meets. The length of the straightaway at the start and finish of the course is 200 yards. The course starts with a long straightaway, followed by a couple turns leading to a small hill. As runners continue on, there is another hill, which is steeper than the first. The biggest obstacle follows, a longer climb on a bigger hill on the back of the course.
Penn’s cross country course has portable restroom facilities.
Everwise Freed Field
Everwise Freed Field, located on the east side of Penn High School, is a state-of-the-art facility that is home to Penn High School Football, Boys and Girls Track, and the Club Sports of Boys and Girls Lacrosse. Everwise Freed Field also hosts band competitions, the Silver Mile, intramural sports events, youth sports camps and athletic training events and Penn High School Wellness classes.
With a seating capacity of 8,000, Everwise Freed Field is one of the largest high school football venues in the state of Indiana. There are 4,500 seats on the home side, and 3,500 seats on the visitor’s side. Additional bleachers can also be brought in for special events.
Everwise Freed Field features an AstroTurf multi-purpose synthetic surface that was installed in 2010.
Surrounding the football field is a Martin Surface all-weather 400-meter eight-lane track that hosts IHSAA Sectional events. There are dual facilities in the track complex for high jump, long jump and pole vault, allowing for flexibility due to weather.
The football field has full lighting and LED scoreboards.
There is a two-floor press box that can accommodate 60 members of the media, coaches and officials.
Freed Field also features the Zolman’s Tire & Auto Care North Concession Stand. There is also a concession stand in the south end of the football field complex. There are restroom facilities at the north end. The concession stands and restrooms were renovated in 2014. There is a natural grass practice field located adjacent to the varsity field.
Freed Field was constructed in 1958 and named for former Penn Twp. Trustee Vernon Freed.
Starting with the 2015 season, community partner Teachers Credit Union obtained naming rights to Penn’s home football field. Also in 2015, Zolman’s Tire & Auto Care was granted naming rights for the north concession stand.

The par for boys matches is 72, and the par for girls matches is also 72. The courses cover more than 400 acres of tree-lined, gently rolling terrain. This is a private course and is not open to the public.
All Penn student-athletes have access to the Lifetime Fitness Center.
Lionshead Specialty Tire and Wheel Soccer Field
Both Penn Boys and Girls Soccer teams play at Lionshead Specialty Tire and Wheel Soccer Fields. It is located north of the high school, and east of the Educational Services Center off of Bittersweet Rd. The synthetic-turf field is 70 yards by 120 yards. The field is fully lighted for night games, and features an LED scoreboard. There covered concrete dugouts.
The concession stand and restroom facilities are located in the nearby softball pressbox. The bleacher seating capacity is 800. Lionshead Specialty Tire and Wheel Soccer Field has hosted IHSAA sectional and regional events. The soccer field is fully enclosed by fencing, and also hosts youth camps and Wellness class events.

Penn High School Pool
Penn High School’s swimming pool is a three-part pool, with a wading area (6-inches by 2-feet), an eight-lane swimming pool (25 meters, 440,000 gallons of water), and a diving well (14 feet deep) that has two diving boards.
The pool has a Colorado Timing Touchpad System, an LED scoreboard, and updated lighting to reduce glare on the water. There is also a state-of-the-art video board.
The pool has an adjustable bulkhead to change the length of pool for both practice and competition. The pool complex has male and female locker rooms and showers.
There is seating for 500 spectators. Concession stands and restroom facilities are adjacent to the pool complex.
Penn’s pool has hosted IHSAA sectionals.
The pool is also used for Penn High School Wellness classes. It is also open to the public for community use and education, and hosts swim lessons for children each summer.

Dar and Dot Wiekamp Tennis Courts
The Penn High School tennis courts are sponsored by The Dar and Dot Wiekamp family. The tennis courts are outdoor public courts and are fully lighted. The tennis courts are north of the high school building, just north of the Educational Services Center off of Bittersweet Rd.
There are 10 hard-style tennis courts built in 2008 at the Penn High School tennis facility. The courts are green on the interior of the courts and red on the outside.
The Dar and Dot Wiekamp tennis courts are free to the community for individual use, and also host Penn summer camps and are used for Penn High School and Schmucker Middle School Wellness classes.
The Penn High School tennis facility is the host of multiple tennis tournaments during the boys and girls tennis season and also hosts Indiana High School Athletic Association sectional championship events.
Fan seating, including bleacher seats, is available inside and outside of the complex.

Both Penn Boys and Girls Soccer teams play at Lionshead Specialty Tire and Wheel Soccer Fields. It is located north of the high school, and east of the Educational Services Center off of Bittersweet Rd. The synthetic-surface field is 70 yards by 120 yards. The field is fully lighted for night games, and features an LED scoreboard. There covered concrete dugouts.
The concession stand and restroom facilities are located in the nearby softball pressbox. The bleacher seating capacity is 800. Lionshead Specialty Tire and Wheel Soccer Field has hosted IHSAA sectional and regional events. The soccer field is fully enclosed by fencing, and also hosts youth camps and Wellness class events.

The Penn High School Softball Field is sponsored by May Oberfell Lorber Law Firm. The complex is located north of Penn High School and the Educational Services Center off of Bitterweet Rd., and just south of U.S. 20. It has an artificial turf surface that was installed in 2019. There is an estimated seating capacity of more than 500.
The visitor and home-team sides feature bleachers on each the visitor and home team’s side. There is also open fencing along the backstop to allow people to bring lawn chairs and get a view from behind the plate. Additional seating can be brought in for special tournament events. The fences are 215 feet from home plate to right field and also 215 feet to left field, and 220 feet to center field. The field has full lighting for night games, and has hosted IHSAA sectional and regional events.
The softball field also has enclosed concrete dugouts on the first-base and third-base sides, as well as batting cages for home and visiting teams. There is also a junior varsity field located adjacent to the the varsity field.
The permanent press box facility also has a concession stand and restroom facilities.

Penn High School’s swimming pool is a three-part pool, with a wading area (6-inches by 2-feet), an eight-lane swimming pool (25 meters, 440,000 gallons of water), and a diving well (14 feet deep) that has two diving boards.
The pool has a Colorado Timing Touchpad System, an LED scoreboard, and updated lighting to reduce glare on the water. There is also a state-of-the-art video board.
The pool has an adjustable bulkhead to change the length of pool for both practice and competition. The pool complex has male and female locker rooms and showers.
There is seating for 500 spectators. Concession stands and restroom facilities are adjacent to the pool complex.
Penn’s pool has hosted IHSAA sectionals.
The pool is also used for Penn High School Wellness classes. It is also open to the public for community use and education, and hosts swim lessons for children each summer.

The Penn High School tennis courts are sponsored by The Dar and Dot Wiekamp family. The tennis courts are outdoor public courts and are fully lighted. The tennis courts are north of the high school building, just north of the Educational Services Center off of Bittersweet Rd.
There are 10 hard-style tennis courts built in 2008 at the Penn High School tennis facility. The courts are green on the interior of the courts and red on the outside.
The Dar and Dot Wiekamp tennis courts are free to the community for individual use, and also host Penn summer camps and are used for Penn High School and Schmucker Middle School Wellness classes.
The Penn High School tennis facility is the host of multiple tennis tournaments during the boys and girls tennis season and also hosts Indiana High School Athletic Association sectional championship events.
Fan seating, including bleacher seats, is available inside and outside of the complex.

TCU Freed Field
TCU Freed Field, located on the east side of Penn High School, is a state-of-the-art facility that is home to Penn High School Football, Boys and Girls Track, and the Club Sports of Boys and Girls Lacrosse. TCU Freed Field also hosts band competitions, the Silver Mile, intramural sports events, youth sports camps and athletic training events and Penn High School Wellness classes.
With a seating capacity of 8,000, TCU Freed Field is one of the largest high school football venues in the state of Indiana. There are 4,500 seats on the home side, and 3,500 seats on the visitor’s side. Additional bleachers can also be brought in for special events.
TCU Freed Field features an AstroTurf multi-purpose synthetic surface that was installed in 2010.
Surrounding the football field is a Martin Surface all-weather 400-meter eight-lane track that hosts IHSAA Sectional events. There are dual facilities in the track complex for high jump, long jump and pole vault, allowing for flexibility due to weather.
The football field has full lighting and LED scoreboards.
There is a two-floor press box that can accommodate 60 members of the media, coaches and officials.
Freed Field also features the Zolman’s Tire & Auto Care North Concession Stand. There is also a concession stand in the south end of the football field complex. There are restroom facilities at the north end. The concession stands and restrooms were renovated in 2014. There is a natural grass practice field located adjacent to the varsity field.
Freed Field was constructed in 1958 and named for former Penn Twp. Trustee Vernon Freed.
Starting with the 2015 season, community partner Teachers Credit Union obtained naming rights to Penn’s home football field. Also in 2015, Zolman’s Tire & Auto Care was granted naming rights for the north concession stand.

The Penn High School Arena is home to Boys and Girls Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling, Poms and Wellness class events.
Capacity seating for the Arena is 4,000, with 1,268 seats in the lower Arena. The Arena features a two-tone wood playing surface that was resurfaced in 2010, and has three LED scoreboards and efficient instant indoor illumination (80-plus lumens). There are adjacent male and female locker rooms in the Arena, and an additional six male and female locker rooms nearby. The Arena features the Tradewinds Restaurant Concession Stand in the northeast corner of the upper Arena. There is also a concession stand in the northwest corner of the upper Arena. The Arena complex also has four public restrooms.
Penn’s Arena has hosted numerous IHSAA sectional and regional events.
The Arena is located on the north side of Penn High School, and can be accessed by Door D from the front of the high school off of Bittersweet Rd.
