The Penn Football Team opened the 2018 season on Friday, Aug. 17, with a 21-3 victory against Valparaiso.

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who want to drive to school should attempt to register for a parking pass prior to the start of the school year.

STUDENT PARKING PASSES will be available in the Bookstore from 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Monday – Friday (beginning July 31). PARKING PASSES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE at the Penn Walk Around on Sat., Aug. 18 or Monday, Aug. 20 or Tues, Aug. 21.

If students have not purchased their parking pass before the start of school on Wednesday, Aug. 22, they can purchase them from Penn Bookstore once school starts.

The cost for "general" and "reserved" student parking remains $40 for a full year and $20 for a pass purchased in the 2nd semester. There is the option for a limited number of FREE parking passes to students who are willing to park only in the bank and softball parking lots.

Once all passes are distributed, a wait list will be instituted.

Northridge defeated Penn, 6-1, in Boys Soccer action on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018.

Jesus Botello scored the goal for the Kingsmen.

Grace Szklarek scored 2 goals to lead two-time defending State Champion Penn to a 2-1 victory against Fort Wayne Carroll in the Girls Soccer season opener on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018.

Maya Locagnato made the assists on both of Szklarek’s goals.

Penn High School’s Volleyball Team opened the 2018 season with a 3-0 sweep at NorthWood on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018.

The Kingsmen defeated the Panthers 25-18, 25-15, 25-14.

Addy Kois dished out 20 assists and Ally Hickey contributed 10 assists to the Kingsmen attack.

Emma Hickey worked for 16 digs, and Maria Schwindaman had 8 digs.

Alyssa Torres helped Penn turn back NorthWood with 6 blocks.

Maria Schwindaman and Molly Pooler soared at the net for 10 and 7 kills respectively.

Addy Kois blasted 2 aces.

Penn’s Junior Varsity defeated NorthWood 25-19 and 25-18.

The Penn freshmen opened with two victories. Penn beat NorthWood 25-18 and 25-15, and defeated Glenn 25-21 and 25-13.

The Penn High School Athletic Department and the Kingsmen Student-Athlete Leadership Council hosted a Kingsmen Luau for Penn student-athletes on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018.

The event was co-sponsored by the National Guard.

Penn High School’s Boys Soccer Team fought back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the score, but fell short in a 4-3 decision against host Homestead in the 2018 season opener on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018.

Dorian Clayton, Ryan Hague and Peter Smith scored goals for Penn.

Alex Karamitsos and Max Bender contributed assists.

“Our Varsity boys showed the exact personality traits needed to be champions: resolve, determination, support for one another, and courage,” Penn Head Coach Kyle Zaber stated. “I’m very proud of their efforts and I know we’ll be ready to keep learning and improving for our next game!”

Penn’s Varsity hosts Northridge on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 6:45 p.m.

Penn’s JV Black scored a 4-0 victory against Homestead.

“Our JV boys. . . WOW!!” Zaber stated. “The pace with which they moved the ball and attacked as a group made them very difficult to defend. The 4-0 score line was well earned and deserved!”

Homestead defeated the Penn JV Gold Team 1-0.

“Great stuff from all three teams!” Zaber stated about Saturday’s efforts against Homestead. “Our JV Gold team demonstrated very good possession on the ball with quick and creative passing, and great individual efforts to beat their 1v1 chances! Great stuff to see!”

Lyvia Li shot a 76 and Grace Szklarek shot a 77 to lead the Penn Girls Golf effort in the Western Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018.

Penn placed third with a season-best score of 339. Lafayette Jeff won the event with a score of 331, and Westfield took second with a score of 334.

Ryen DeToro shot an 87 for the Kingsmen, and Kate Burnett carded a 99.
