Penn Rocketry Club members participate in World Space Week
Posted on October 8, 2026To celebrate World Space Week, Penn Rocketry Club members built and launched their own model rockets along with a 1:100 scale replica of the ULA Vulcan Rocket, generously gifted to use through a grant with ULA and ESTES rocketry.
AP Physics students learning about Force and Newton’s Laws heard Penn Rocketry executive Jacob Pennington explain the basics of the rocket flight before going outside to launch the rockets. Data was recorded that can be used by the class to analyze the forces from the motor and parachute during the flight.
The Vulcan Rocket is designed and built by the United Launch Alliance for the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program, which supports U.S. intelligence agencies and the Defense Department.
