Silver Medalist & Alum Annie Drews Visits Penn Volleyball Team

Posted on August 30, 2024

Olympic Silver (Paris 2024) and Gold (Tokyo 2020/21) medalist Annie Drews dropped by Penn Thursday, August 29th. Before the JV Volleyball game, Drews visited with the Lady Kingsmen and her former teammate, now Penn Head Coach Kaitlyn Hickey. Drews and Hickey led Penn to State Championship titles in 2010 and 2011; Drews graduated from Penn in 2012.

Drews of course brought her Silver Medal for all the student-athletes to see up close and hold. P-H-M Superintendent Dr. Jerry Thacker was present and congratulated Drews on her accomplishments; he also got to try on the medal!

Drews talked to the news media briefly stating she was happy to be back home and she was grateful for all the support she received from her Penn and Purdue fans back in Indiana; she could feel the love! Click here to see the clip on Sports Michiana’s Facebook page.

This is the second time that Drews has been back to visit Penn after an Olympic win. She visited the Volleyball team and other student-athletes in 2021 after she won Gold in the Tokyo Olympics. Click here to see those photos.
