Playschool and Toddler Time offered at Penn High School

Each year the Penn High School students enrolled in Childhood Development classes offer the two unique programs described below for preschoolers in our community.  

We encourage you to take advantage of PLAYSCHOOL and TODDLER TIME if you have young children in your household, and to tell your friends as well!

PARENT PANEL

This year in ECE Capstone, we will be running a parent panel for our student to talk about their experiences as parents from pregnancy, infancy, and toddlers. Applicants should either be pregnant or have recently had a child within the last 3 years. 

Date is September 4th. 
Time is  8:40AM to 9:40 AM. 
 
BABY TIME

For babies ages 0-12 months and a parent or caregiver. It is led by the students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Capstone (third level) classes and is designed to help them learn about the infants through direct interaction and observations. It is FREE for the parent and caregiver!

Dates: September 15, 16, 17
Times: 8:40-9:40
Our Early Childhood Education classes are dedicated to learning through hands-on experiences and are offering multiple opportunities for our family in our community. Please look through the following options and see if any are going to fit for your families or friends! 
 
Baby Time (ECE Level 3)  (click here for enrollment form) 
For babies ages 0-12 months and a parent or caregiver. Toddler Time (ECE level 3) (click for enrollment form)
For children ages 1 – 3 and a parent or caregiver. It is led by the students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education classes and is designed to help them learn about the toddlers through direct interaction and observations. FREE the toddler and caregiver!
Mrs. Wetzel’s ECE Capstone level class is offering another short Toddler Time Experience!
*Dates: September 29, 30, October 1st
*Time: 8:40-9:40 am
*Only accepting 10 children. First come first serve. 
 
Toddler Time (ECE level 1) (Click here for Enrollment) 
*Time: 2-3 pm
*Gold Dates:  December 2, 4, 8, 10, 14, 16
*Black Dates: December 3, 7, 9, 11, 15, 17
 
Playschool (ECE Level 1) (Click here for Enrollment) 
For potty-trained children, ages 3-4 to prepare them for preschool and future kindergarten, one time $20 enrollment fee for snacks and supplies. Sign up for as many options as you like. 
*Gold Dates:  April 14, 16, 20, 22, 26, 28, 30, 5/4, 5/6, 5/10
*Black Dates: April  15, 19, 21, 23, 27, 29, 5/3, 5/5, 5/7, 5/11
*Times range from 11:45-3:00 
 
Playschool 2 (ECE Level 2) (Click here for Enrollment) 
Description: For potty-trained children, ages 4-5, gearing towards kindergarten. Student-led lesson plans with stations and routines.  
Dates: 9/22- 5/7 
Wetzel Group: 10:05-11:15 am every Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. $100 Per Semester (Only accepting 10 children. First come first serve. You may be put on a waitlist.) *Really needs more children signed up!
Wachs (Pronounced ‘wax’) Group: 8:30-11:15 am every Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. $200 per semester (only 2 spots left). 

Additional notes:

It is very important that children be dropped off on time for PLAYSCHOOL and picked up on time afterwards! 

A small circle drive at the southeast corner of the high school (enter off Jefferson Road) provides PLAYSCHOOL parents convenient access to the PLAYSCHOOL entrance at Door K, where high school students are stationed to assist parents. This map will help you find your way.

If you do not want your child’s picture taken and possibly posted on social media for observation and education purposes (children’s names are never listed), please note that on the enrollment form. We will make sure your privacy is respected.

Dates: First Semester September 19- December 21. Second Semester January 23- May 9. 

Times: 

Option #1 Wach’s Group: 8:30-9:45 a.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. $50 Per Semester

Option #2 Wetzel’s Group: 8:30-11:15 a.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. $100 Per Semester

Both TODDLER TIME and PLAYSCHOOL give the Child Development students at the high school an opportunity to plan intellectual, social, and physical development-based lessons, teach these lessons, and observe behaviors of young children.
