Crayon Box Club

Sponsor: Gabriel Ibarra and Rachel Keeler

The aim of the Penn High School Crayon Box Club  is:

  • Create a safe space at Penn High School for all students and neuro-divergent students to meet and build a network of support.
  • Bolster a community of students eager to learn with, around, and from each other and their peers.
  • Establish a community of creative students to complete creative projects for fun.
  • Educate and present on topics related to a variety of different backgrounds; history, biography, current events
  • Connect with community organizations to learn about outside resources from Penn.
  • Homecoming event participation to promote the club to the Penn community and further show allyship across campus

As a club, our central purpose is to provide and hold space for students of different life experiences. We as a club also hold central that sometimes a club that invites all keeps students well and coming back to campus. As a club we hope that through community education, fun activities, and an overall expectation of trust and care, we can support one another through the transitions of high school and invite those that may be “other” to the table. It is important to the Crayon Box Club that all are welcome, all are celebrated, and all are heard. We strive to remind students at all campuses they are never alone and have a network of people that can listen and be there for them.

There are no club dues.

Regularly scheduled meetings will be held at Penn High School in Room 144 at 3:30 p.m. once a week, on Tuesdays.
