PTO
Penn PTO is a group of devoted parents and volunteers who work hand-in-hand with administration to support our students, staff and teachers through events that bring together community and show appreciation.
The PTO provides grants to our teachers, clubs and student groups.
We also coordinate snowball (an event your student will not want to miss), teacher appreciation week and monthly appreciation events for teachers and staff, as well as organizing and funding things such as Freshman Frenzy.
We have meetings once a month and would love for you to join us and learn more.
Please email pennhspto@gmail.com to be added to our meeting invite list for a virtual meeting option or check the calendar and join us in person.
Stay updated on PTO activities in #KingsmenNation.
Membership/Meetings
All parents/guardians of Penn students are members of the PTO and are encouraged to participate in monthly meetings. Meetings start at 6:15 p.m. and will either be on Zoom or in person at Penn. E-mail pennhspto@gmail.com for Zoom meeting information. Interested persons should enter Door D for in-person meetings.
Penn High School will be looking for parent volunteers for these additional times:
- Prom ticket sales – late April
- Diploma distribution – Mid-June
All volunteers must complete a permission form for a criminal background check and a volunteer intake form. Forms can be downloaded at https://www.phmschools.org/volunteer-information and turned in to the main office.

Chromebooks
As one of the first high schools in Indiana to implement 1-to-1 technology for its students, Penn High School has been at the forefront of blended learning, in which digital instruction converges with tradition classroom methods to enhance learning. Starting in 2014, Penn High School has issued a Chromebook to each student, allowing learning initiatives that incorporate technology to heighten student achievement. The integrated connectivity has allowed students to discuss writing with authors through Skype, or learn through customized labs in Project Lead the Way.

Academics
Penn High School strives to ensure that all learners at Penn can meet their highest academic potential. Consistently earning the Indiana Department of Education’s highest rating – Four Stars – Penn High School has established one of the state’s top levels of student achievement on an annual basis.
STEM Partnerships
STEM Academy

If you enjoy figuring out how an object works, doing puzzles, understanding the human body,
discovering the secrets of nature or creating new applications for existing technology, then consider selecting the STEM Academy. Choosing the STEM Academy will be the beginning of an exploration of fields such as structural design, computer science, nanotechnology, environmental science, assistive technologies, robotics, physics, chemistry and biology. Each of the fields that STEM explores features technology that plays a central role in our daily lives, including cell phones, computers, the Internet, cars, bridges, food and medicines. If these are topics that interest you, STEM is an appropriate choice.
