Penn Tennis sweeps Mishawaka 5-0

The Penn Boys Tennis Team stormed past Mishawaka, 5-0.

A.J. Antonelli (P) defeated Brock Bolinger 6-0, 6-0.

Will Thurin (P) defeated Brandon Vandall 6-0, 6-0.

Aidan Sucharetza (P) defeated James Buchmann 6-0, 6-0.

Doubles

Maity Spitters and Nick Casetti (P) defeated Kyle Sears and Nathan Fry 6-0, 6-2.

Alvin Wang and Jack Dinnon (P) defeated Jacob Beshara and Uriah Liskow 6-0, 6-0.

Penn Tennis wins Penn Invitational

Penn won the Penn Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 26, with a record of 3-0, Marion followed with a record of 2-1, Northridge owned a record of 1-2, and Chesterton was last with a record of 0-3.

Penn Girls Golf improves to 10-0 in NIC

The Penn Girls Golf Team improved to 10-0 in Northern Indiana Conference action by winning a close match against Elkhart Central, 193-197.

Lyvia Li led the Kingsmen with a score of 39 to win medalist honors.

Abbey Hamilton shot a 48, followed by Grace Szklarek (52), Ryen DeToro (54) and Kate Burnett (57).

Penn Volleyball turns back Elkhart Central 3-1

Penn's Volleyball Team, ranked No. 5 in Indiana, improved to 12-1 with a 25-14, 25-16, 19-25, 25-20 victory against Elkhart Central on Thursday, Aug. 31.

 

Alyssa Torres led the Kingsmen with 12 kills, followed by Italia Fields with 11, Ally Hickey with eight, and Courtney North and Rachel Rupert with seven each.

 

Torres had five blocks in the match.

 

Naomi Willis dished out 38 assists.

 

Rachel Hickey had 32 digs, Naomi Willis had 17 digs, Julia Beers and Sophia Cruz had 16 digs each, and Italia Fields and  Kylee Hixenbaugh had nine digs each.

Penn Volleyball beats Riley 3-0

The Penn Varsity Volleyball team beat Riley High School, 3-0, on Thursday, Aug. 24.

Julia Beers and Rachel Hickey led the team with three aces each.

Alyssa Torres had nine kills and Courtney North had eight kills.

Ally Hickey had a total of 18 assists, and Rachel Hickey ended the game with 21 digs.

Penn Volleyball places third at Plymouth Tournament

Penn Volleyball placed third in the Plymouth Tournament.

The Kingsmen beat Lake Central 2-0 in the third-place match.

Penn beat Alexandria Monroe 2-1 and New Prairie 2-0, but lost to Valparaiso 2-1 in pool play.

The Kingsmen were led by Rachel Hickey with seven aces, and Julia Beers with another 5. Rachel Hickey also led the team in digs with 60 followed by Sophia Cruz with another 36. Alyssa Torres and Italia Fields dominated the nets with 25 kills each thanks to Naomi Willis with an impressive 77 assists.

Penn Volleyball beats Bremen 3-0

Penn Volleyball defeated Bremen 25-5, 25-14, 25-14, on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

 

Julia Beers led the team with 4 aces and 15 digs. Sophia Cruz had three aces.

 

Rachel Rupert also had an outstanding performance with 8 kills. Italia Fields and Kylee Hixenbaugh had six kills each.

 

Naomi Willis was a huge team player, finishing the game with 22 assists.

 

Ally Hickey contributed 13 assists.  

 

Rachel Hickey had a great defensive game and ended her night with 11 digs.

Penn runners shine at Penn Invite

 

The Penn Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams turned in exceptional efforts at the Penn Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 26.

 

The Penn Boys Cross Country Team just narrowly finished winning the championship. Homestead placed first with a score of 53, followed by Penn with 57 points.

 

Penn's top finisher was Colton Shail with a time of 16:53.75, good for second place. The next Kingsmen finisher was Chad Piatt, who placed fourth in 16:55.82. Curtis Cornell placed seventh in 16:59.85. Matt Long placed 21st in 17:31.57, and Chandler Neal was 23rd in 17:35.75.

 

Penn placed second in the JV meet. Homestead was first with 32 points, and Penn placed second with 43 points.

 

Ben Boardley of Penn was first in the JV meet with a time of 18:17.70.

 

Penn's Girls Cross Country Team placed fourth in the Penn Invite.

 

Lauren Frank led the Kingsmen with a third-place finish in a time of 19:36.24. Riley Keppler placed ninth in 20:15.18, and Dani Spring placed 20th in 20:47.57. Ellie Jankowski ran the Elm Rd. School course in 20:54.20 for 24th place. Brooke Neal was 27th in 20:56.92.

 

Penn's Girls JV Team won the JV Girls Championship with 20 points. Homestead was second with 50 points. Stella DiMarzio won the Girls JV Race with a time of 21:54.42.

The Kingsmen earned a 38-0 victory.
