Kingsmen beat Merrillville 7-0 in Football
Penn’s Kingsmen won a fierce battled against Merrillville, 7-0, on Friday, Aug. 26.
Ryan Whiteman broke loose to score the Kingsmen touchdown, sprinting 88 yards to put Penn on the board.
Division I prospect Paul Moala made a huge impact on the game.
Moala made a touchdown-saving tackle late in the second quarter, and then blocked a subsequent field-goal attempt.
Moala intercepted a pass at the Penn 26 to end a fourth-quarter Merrillville drive.
Valpo defeats Penn 12-7 in Football season opener
Penn’s defense shined, and Paul Moala gave the offense a big spark, but the Kingsmen suffered a 12-7 defeat in the high school football season opener at Valparaiso.
Valpo’s victory was its first against Penn since 2010.
Moala caught a pass from Ryan Lynch and raced 33 yards for the touchdown.
Penn Football JV blasts Mishawaka 28-0
Penn smacked archrival Mishawaka, 28-0, in Junior Varsity Football action on Saturday, Sept. 2.
Trenton Horvath, Tyron Robinson, Michael Garcia and Patrick Maclin scored touchdowns for the Kingsmen.
Alex Kennach kicked 4 PATs.
Penn Freshmen Football moves to 2-0
Penn beat Merrillville 21-6 in Freshmen Football with scores from Nate Ehmer, Brook Jones, and Kyle Riffel.
The defense also made some big plays with Aiden Jones raking up two fumble recoveries.
Tye Zahner and Dale Hazen each added an interception.
Penn Girls Soccer Team posts 1-0-1 mark at Zionsville Invite
The Penn Girls Soccer Team, ranked No. 1 in the Nation, beat the No. 2 ranked team in Kentucky, Simon Kenton, 2-0, and tied the No. 3 team in Indiana, Carmel, 1-1, on Saturday, Sept. 2, in the power-packed Zionsville Invitational.
Brooke VanDyck put the Kingsmen on the board in the 30th minute against Simon Kenton off an assist from Kristina Lynch.
Lynch scored in the 78th minute off of an assist from VanDyck to wrap up the 2-0 victory.
Carmel, the No. 25 team in the nation, took a 1-0 lead on Penn in the 20th minute.
Lynch fired in a goal unassisted in the 26th minute to tie the score.
Lynch scores 100th career goal in Penn win vs. Elkhart Central
Penn star Kristina Lynch, a Florida State University recruit, scored her 100th career goal to highlight Penn’s 5-0 victory against Elkhart Central on Thursday, Aug. 31.
Lynch scored three goals in the game.
Maya Lacognato and Lauren Cernak also scored goals for the Kingsmen.
Notre Dame recruit Brooke VanDyck delivered three assists. Lynch had one assist.
Penn Girls Soccer dominates Clay 9-0
Brooke Fuller and Allison Yergler scored two goals each as Penn beat South Bend Clay 9-0 on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
Allison Funk, Marissa Million, Brooke Neal, Isabella Costa and Isabella Bumbaca scored one goal each.
Abbie Clay and Isabella Costa shared the shutout in goal.
Lynch scores twice as Penn Girls Soccer beats Munster 2-0
Kristina Lynch scored two goals to lead the No. 1-ranked Penn Kingsmen to a 2-0 victory against Munster on Saturday, Aug. 26.
Mackenzie Wood earned the shutout in goal.
Penn Girls Soccer shuts out Mishawaka 9-0
Penn overpowered archrival Mishawaka, 9-0, in girls soccer action.
Penn started strong in the first minute with a goal from Brooke Van Dyck off an assist from Sydney Egendoerfer.
Allie Lankowicz scored off an assist from Brooke Van Dyck to push the Kingsmen lead to 2-0.
Not long after that, the Kingsmen established a dominant lead at 3-0, thanks a goal from Florida State commit Kristina Lynch, with an assist from Kelsi Carrico.
With confidence levels high, the Kingsmen continued to show teamwork.
Maya Lacognato contributed an unassisted goal and two assist. Mary Kaczynski had two assists. McKenzie Blankenbaker, Carly Todd, Allie Lankowicz, and Mackenzie Wood scored goals as the Kingsmen built an 8-0 lead.
Penn finished off the 9-0 victory in the 78th minute as Regan Hart assisted Haylee Shahan for the final goal.
Atkins leads Penn Boys Soccer past Goshen
Sammy Atkins punched in two goals to lead the Penn Kingsmen to a 3-0 victory against Northern Lake Conference power Goshen on Saturday, Sept. 2.
Dorian Clayton also scored a goal for the Kingsmen.
Hayden Hurn contributed two assists to the Kingsmen attack, and Atkins had one assist.
Evan Mercurio earned the shutout in goal. Mercurio’s effort included a brilliant save on a penalty kick.
