Penn Boys Soccer beats Adams 2-0 on Senior Night

Penn High's Kingsmen celebrated Senior Night with a 2-0 victory against South Bend Adams on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Dorian Clayton scored on an assist from Sammy Atkins to put the Kingsmen up 1-0 in the 42nd minute. 

Hayden Hurn volleyed a screamer in the 58th minute as the Kingsmen pulled ahead of the Eagles, 2-0.

The Kingsmen move to 12-1-2, 8-1 in NIC play.

Penn beats Mishawaka to reach Boys Tennis Sectional Championship match

Penn stormed past Mishawaka, 5-0, on Wednesday, Sept. 27, to advance to the championship match of the Penn Tennis Sectional.

1. Eric Spaargaren/Aiden O'Day (PENN) beat Nathaniel Fry/Kyle Sears (Mishawaka) 6-0, 6-1.

2. Maity Spitters/Nick Casetti (PENN) beat Jacob Beshara/Dylan Armstrong (Mishawaka) 6-1, 6-2.

Coach Sarah Hendricks earns 200th career victory in Penn Volleyball win vs. New Prairie

Coach Sarah Hendricks earned her 200th career victory as the Penn Kingsmen Volleyball Team traveled to New Prairie and defeated the host Cougars, 25-15, 23-25, 25-14 and 25-15, on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Alyssa Torres hammered 16 kills. Italia Fields and Rachel Rupert had 13 kills each. Ally Hickey 9 kills.

Naomi Williams had a tremendous 45 assist in the Kingsmen win.

Kylee Hixenbaugh had 21 digs. Naomi Williams had 19 digs, Rachel Hickey 18 digs, Julia Beers 16 digs.

Penn High School honored the Seniors on the 2017 Boys Soccer Team on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

In two seasons as upperclassmen on the varsity, the Kingsmen Seniors have  27 wins, 1 loss, 132 goals scored, and 15 goals allowed in the last two seasons.

No. 1 Penn clinches share of NIC Girls Soccer championship

No. 1-ranked Penn defeated South Bend Adams, 3-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 26, to clinch a share of the Northern Indiana Conference Girls Soccer Championship. Penn can wrap up the NIC crown outright on Thursday, Sept. 28, at Glenn.

Adams tested the Kingsmen early, but Penn broke through in the 65th minute with an unassisted goal by Florida State University recruit Kristina Lynch. 

Lynch made it 2-0 in the 74th minute off an assist by Maya Lacognato.

Kelsi Carrico scored off an assist from Lynch to make it 3-0 in the 74th minute.

The Kingsmen continue their amazing perfect run, moving to 15-0-1 overall and 8-0 in NIC play.

World-acclaimed violinist Rachel Barton Pine works with Penn Orchestra

World-acclaimed violinist Rachel Barton Pine worked with the Penn Symphonic Orchestra students on Friday, Sept. 22.

Barton Pine visited Penn Orchestra Director Anne Tschetter’s class prior to Barton Pine’s concert at the Morris Performing Arts Center.

Winner of numerous international music awards, Barton Pine has recorded 32 CDs.  After working with Penn students, she treated the class to a performance of classical, heavy-metal rock and Scottish violin music.

Atkins scores two goals to lead Penn Boys Soccer past Bremen

Sammy Atkins scored two goals to lead the Penn Kingsmen to an 8-0 victory against the host Bremen Lions on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

Dorian Clayton, Alex Karamitsos, Evan Pica, Micah Craig, Aron Janko, and Daniel Gries scored one goal each.

Aron Janko delivered three assists. Dorian Clayton, Micah Craig, Spencer Neal and Ryan Hague each had one assist each.

The Kingsmen move to 11-1 on the year, 7-1 in NIC play.

No. 1 Penn stops No. 5 St. Joe in Girls Soccer

Penn’s Girls Soccer Team, ranked No. 1 in Class 3-A, won a hard-fought match against No. 5 (Class 2-A) South Bend St. Joseph, 2-0, on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

In the 42nd minute, Maya Lacognato scored a header goal off an assist from Florida State University commit Kristina Lynch to put the Kingsmen on the scoreboard.

Lynch struck in the opening minutes of the second half to give Penn its 2-0 lead.

The Kingsmen move to 13-0-1, 7-0 in Northern Indiana Conference play.

Kingsmen Boys Soccer Team beats St. Joe in Shootout

Penn’s Kingsmen came through in the clutch to win a critical Northern Indiana Conference Boys Soccer showdown, beating the archrival South Bend St. Joseph Indians, 1-1 (5-4) in a shootout on Thursday, Sept. 21.

Micah Craig drilled the Kingsmen’s only regulation goal on a penalty kick.

Micah Craig, Brandon Stahl, Daniel Gries, Jack Demske and Sammy Atkins all scored in the shootout.

Evan Mercurio made a sensational save to seal the deal for the Kingsmen.

The Kingsmen are now 12-1-2 on the year, 8-1 in NIC play.

Penn Volleyball sweeps Elkhart Memorial

The Kingsmen volleyball team faced off against the Crimson Chargers from Elkhart Memorial on Thursday, Sept. 21. The Kingsmen swept the Chargers 3-0 with scores of 25-15, 25-9, 25-17.

Alysaa Torres powers Penn with 13 kills, Italia Fields had 8 kills, Rachel Ruppert had 7 kills.

Naomi Williams had an enormous 29 assists in the Kingsmen victory.

Rachel Hickey lead Penn with 21 digs, Naomi Williams and Julia Beers had 14 digs, Sophia Cruz had 12 digs, and Kylee Hixenbaugh had 10 kills.
