Activity Name: National Honor Society
Description: National Honor Society is a service organization for the Penn Community as well as the surrounding community. After you have been inducted, 40 Hours of community service, 6 hours of tutoring, and involvement in the recycling program is required.
Eligibility Requirements: Involvement in NHS recognizes Junior and Senior students who are outstanding in character, leadership, service, and scholarship. Members of the Penn NHS are required to serve Penn and our community, and, in serving, to represent our school. Juniors and Seniors with a 3.5 GPA or above are welcome to petition for admittance to NHS during September and February. The petition will be reviewed by a council of five teachers, who will be looking closely at how the information you have given them reflects each of these four traits. Names of those students seeking NHS involvement are shared with the entire faculty of Penn High School, and any communications received from faculty members will also be considered.
