Penn Symphonic Orchestra to perform with Mark Wood and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Penn High School’s Symphonic Orchestra will performing alongside Mark Wood, founding member of the world-renowned Trans-Siberian Orchestra, on

Wednesday, December 9
7:30 p.m.
Century Center, downtown South Bend

Penn High School is the first high school orchestra selected to collaborate with Wood in this professional concert capacity, a testament to the exceptional caliber of Penn’s orchestra program.

Wood’s relationship with Penn High School dates back to 2019. In 2025, through the Mark Wood Music Foundation, he returned to work directly with Penn orchestra students. Impressed by their musical talent and dedication, Wood extended this unique opportunity for students to perform alongside professional musicians.

The concert will also feature the University of Notre Dame Children’s Choir, performing four musical selections.

Beyond showcasing outstanding musical talent, the concert will help create more opportunities for Penn orchestra students. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit the Penn Orchestra Boosters, helping fund scholarships for private music lessons and further developing Penn-Harris-Madison students’ musical abilities.
