Eduvate Club

Sponsor: Ariel Cornelissen

Eduvate Club seeks to empower refugees by providing English language education and promoting access to learning opportunities through volunteer-driven initiatives and community engagement, from fundraisers to donations.

The purpose of the Club is to foster a supportive community dedicated to providing educational opportunities to teach and support refugees.

Primarily through volunteer work and fundraising, members will tutor and assess refugee students in the subject of English while periodically participating in organized fundraising efforts. We will begin by cooperating with KRP (Korean Refugee Project). The Korean Refugee Project is a project that is located in Jordan through the United Nations (U.N. Refugee Agency). They aim to help refugees in Jordan grasp the opportunity for education, healing, and support they need. KRP wants to expand its reach beyond Jordan, and our club wants to play a part through the aforementioned volunteer and fundraising work. Additionally, we will work with Penn students and program leaders to come up with a consistent syllabus/lesson plan that the KRP program currently lacks. At Penn, we aim for our club to be an inspiring experience for its members, developing interpersonal and language skills, gratitude, and appreciation through volunteer experiences.

There will be club dues of $5.
