Penn Baseball headed to State

Penn High School’s Baseball Team earned it’s second trip to the Class 4-A State Championship Game by defeating Zionsville, 6-2, on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

The Kingsmen (27-6) play Indianapolis Cathedral (28-0) at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Victory Field in Indianapolis for the Class 4-A State Championship.

Penn has won four State Championships in Baseball – 1994, 1998, 2001 and 2015.

Pitcher Kameron Koch earned the victory in Saturday’s Semi-state game against Zionsville. Koch worked five innings. Chase McKenzie sealed the victory with two innings of scoreless relief.

Matt Kominkiewicz, Niko Kavadas and Ryan Lau slugged two hits each for the Kingsmen.

Trevor Waite, Matt Kominkiewicz, Niko Kavadas, Ryan Lynch and Nathan Lovisa each drove in runs for the Kingsmen.

Trevor Waite crushed a triple, and Niko Kavadas, Payton Kerr, Ryan Lau and Nolan Metcalf each whacked doubles.
