Penn High School Showcase 2016

 

Monday, Dec. 12, and Tuesday, Dec. 13

6:30-8 p.m.

 

Showcase allows prospective and current students to explore the learning opportunities that the Academies at Penn High School offers students.

 

Showcase is an opportunity for current eighth-grade students to get acquainted with Penn and plan their schedules with required and elective classes for the 2017-18 school year.

 

Current freshmen, sophomores and juniors will be able to explore required classes and electives as they plan their schedules, and make decisions about which achievement academy to join.

 

SHOWCASE FORMAT

 

Enter at Door C

 

  • Welcome for eighth-grade families at 6:30 p.m. (Center for Performing Arts).

 

  • Welcome for freshmen, sophomores and juniors and their families at 6:45 p.m. (Studio Theater).

 

Following the welcome presentations, prospective students, current students and their families will have the opportunity to:

  • Tour the building on your own.

  • Visit classrooms and view presentations.

  • Visit Showcase sessions.

  • Visit the cafeteria.

  • Meet with Academy Leaders and visit information booths set up in the Sunshine hallway.

 

SPECIAL SESSIONS

 

  • Prospective Parent Question and Answer Session – Located in the IMC throughout the evening.

  • Early College Program – Presented in the CPA at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m by Danielle Black.

  • Honors/Dual Credit/ACP/AP Course Information – Presented in LGI-A at 7:15 p.m. by Ree Johnson, Candice Beeleart, Michele Ball.

 

SELF-GUIDED TOURS

 

Students/families will be encouraged to tour the building with the help of:

 

  • Maps marked with all Showcase Locations, including all Live Classrooms, and Session Locations.

  • Freshmen Mentors – Wearing their “Freshmen Mentor” T-Shirts for easy identification, and assigned to specific locations throughout the building to help families find session locations and Live Classrooms.

  • Other selected students – Selected by teachers and/or Academy Leaders to be in a designated spot to answer specific questions about classes or programs.
