Orchestra Current Events
The plans are set for the Spring Break trip to Florida.
We have added a rehearsal on March 15th after school from 3:30 - 4:30 pm.
The Mandatory Parent Meeting and Pre-tour open rehearsal is on March 29th. Rehearsal will be from 6:00 - 7:20 (and is open for parents and friends to listen freely) and the Meeting with tour members, parents, and chaperones will begin at 7:30. Each student on the trip is required to have at least one parent/guardian attend the meeting.
After Spring Break, the Penn Orchestra program will present the annual Spring Concert - Tuesday, 20th at 7:30 pm.
Come hear the Intermediate, Pre-Advanced, and Symphonic Orchestra Groups! A highlight of the concert will include the North American preimiere of a work titled, "Into a Star", written by Dr. Gregory W. Yasinitsky. This will be a contest peice for the symphonic Orchestra as well.
And not to get any rest, members of all three orchestras will be participating in the "Super Size Symphony". This concert is being hosted by the South Bend Symphony and will take place the weekend after our Spring Concert.
The rehearsals are as follows:
Wednesday, March 31st - after school until 5:00 pm. Maestro Yeh will be here at Penn to conduct our students.
Friday, April 23rd from 7:30 - 10:00 pm
Saturday, April 24th from 2:30 - 5:00 pm
Sunday, April 25th from 1:00 - 3:30 pm
And finally, the performance is Sunday, April 25th at 4:30 pm
Please note that all events from Friday through Sunday will be held at the Joyce ACC, Notre Dame.
Penn High School Commencement ! ! ! ! !
This year is again different than past years. Our underclass members will be required to head to Notre Dame on Friday, May 28th (that is their last day of school and the Friday of Memorial Weekend). We will provide transportation to and from Notre Dame for those students that need to stay here and travel to Notre Dame that night. Students will not wear tuxedos and dresses, but will be asked to 'dress nicely'. All orchestra students will need to meet there at 6:00 pm.
