Welcome to Penn High School! The mission of our Freshman Academy is :
To facilitate a smooth transition from middle school to high school by creating a freshman class with a sense of community, where each individual freshman is motivated, informed, and involved. The sense of community and duty created should carry on through each subsequent grade level.

Freshman Happenings in Guidance
This semester, freshmen have met with their mentors almost every week. The first few weeks of school was spent getting to know each other, learning the Penn fight song, and asking/answering questions to help the transition to the high school. Since then, we have also watched videos/had discussions/activities on the following topics – Cliques & Popularity, Bullying, Drugs/Alcohol, and Suicide Prevention. Freshmen all heard from Sergeant Bryan Fox who gave a presentation on the effects of drugs and alcohol. Sergeant Fox is a police officer who specializes in drug control and educates other officers in this area. Freshmen also attended an assembly presented by Ann Shelle, from the Yellow Ribbon Campaign – a non-for-profit organization to prevent teen suicide. During this assembly, they also heard from the parents who are survivors of their teen committing suicide. For more information on Yellow Ribbon, go to www.yellowribbon.org. The Freshman Mentor program will continue until December. Topics we will be covering include Healthy Teen Relationships and Being Thankful for all we have/paying it forward.
Believe it or not, scheduling is just around the corner. We will start talking to current freshmen about the scheduling process in December. Keep checking the website and our E-Guidance Announcements for more information.
November...
This month Freshman Mentors are teaching freshmen to be kind to one another. We are sharing what we are thankful for. Part of the activities was coming up with Anti-Bullying slogans that were then written on the sidewalk in front of Door A, where other students could see and discuss them.
HAC
To access your students grades, go to the Penn High School website http://penn.phmschools.org/ and then to Home Access Center (HAC). You will then be asked to login with your username and password, which you should have received in the mail at the end of August. HAC provides you with the most updated grades for your student in each of their classes. If you have questions about a grade, please contact the teacher. Remember that you will not receive a report card in the mail until the end of first semester, which will be in January. These are the first grades that will make up your student's transcript, which is the permanent document that colleges will look at when making admissions decisions. Please support your student in being the best learner they can be.
As counselors, we help students with both personal and academic problems. Feel free to contact us with questions or concerns.
