The Penn High School Accelerated College Program is a method for high school students to begin college coursework and/or prepare for a career. Juniors and seniors may choose an area that matches their intended college major, their career plan or personal interest area. Through the Accelerated College Program students may enroll in a local post-secondary institution and receive high school and college credit. Students have the ability to accumulate a number of college credits before they graduate from high school.
· Students will attend Penn High School for part of the day and spend part of their remaining time
at a local college. Even though students may attend a local college they will still be enrolled in
the Accelerated College Program at Penn, and therefore receive dual credit.
· Students will also earn their own college transcript.
· Vacation times vary from college to college. Attendance and vacation issues must be worked
out between the student and the college professor.
· Some classes may require prerequisites.
· Student schedules are individualized. Students may enroll for one, two, three or four credits—
depending upon the college program and blocks available in the individual student
schedule. Most college classes meet in the afternoons and/or evenings and may or may not
coincide with the released blocks from Penn High School.
