Penn Night School
The Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation offers a night school program. The program features a comprehensive core curriculum of North Central Association-approved courses delivered through Nova Net. Nova Net is an interactive Internet-based program. Additional materials, tutorial in nature, support the program.
Facts about Night School
- The program operates between the hours of 3:0 0 – 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday
- While students are not required to attend every day for the entire time, students are required to sign in as they arrive and sign out as they leave.
- Students must attend regularly to finish courses in a timely fashion
- The program is housed at Pennway Alternative School.
- North Central Association-approved courses receive pass/fail grades.
- The Indiana Graduation Qualifying Exam (GQE) must be passed as well as all Penn High School requirements in earning a Penn diploma.
- For some classes, additional CRTs may need to be passed.
- The staff includes licensed teachers to guide students through their curriculum
- Graduation requirements for Night School students are the Penn High School graduation requirements.
- Night School students cannot receive the Academic Honors Diploma because of the Pass/Fail format in grading.
- Night School students will graduate with a Penn High School diploma and are encouraged to participate in the Penn High School graduation ceremony.
- Eligible students are those students who are 18 years or older and include those withdrawn or excluded from the day program.
